Jessica Schultz, COTA/L, is a Washington native with a desire for helping and healing! She enjoys working with people across the lifespan but has always had a special interest in working with children. Jessica has been working as a pediatric occupational therapy practitioner since she graduated from Lake Washington Institute of Technology in 2012. She has experience working with children with fine and gross motor concerns, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, sensory processing disorders, reading and writing challenges, traumatic brain injuries, auditory processing concerns, feeding difficulties, anxiety disorders, ADHD, cerebral palsy, and other developmental delays. She completed her pediatric clinical rotation at Mosaic Children’s Therapy in Bellevue. Jessica joined Fall City Children’s Therapy in 2015 and loves working with a team of such talented therapists. She loves building meaningful relationships with kids and their families. Helping children achieve their goals and feel successful in life quickly became, and has remained, a huge passion.
Additional work experience includes Stepping Stones Occupational Therapy (2012-present) where she currently treats kids and adolescents from ages 3-19. Jessica also has a strong background working in the school setting. For more than 5 years Jessica has experience in conducting classroom screenings, providing parent and teacher education, and providing on-site therapy for children at local private schools.
Programs and interventions Jessica has training and/or experience in include: R. I. S. E. (Reflex Integration to Support Education), she is also knowledgeable in primitive reflex integration and Rhythmic Movement Training; The Superflex Social Thinking curriculum, the ALERT Program, Zones of Regulation, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Handwriting without Tears. Jessica has received extensive training and is certified in Integrated Listening Systems (iLs) and recently became trained in Safe and Sound Protocol for children, adolescents and adults. Recent Continuing education courses include: Self-Regulation in Children; Keeping the Body, Mind and Emotions on Task in Children with Autism, ADHD or Sensory Disorders; Social and Emotional Development for Children and Teens Mind-Body Strategies to Improve Challenging Behaviors, Self-Regulation and Stress; Using Collaborative and Proactive Solutions in Tandem with Social Thinking to Solve Problems and Teach New Skills; Star Institute Symposium- Strategies, Science, Success: Evidence-Based Practice: Evaluation and Treatment of SPD
As part of her Stepping Stones Occupational Therapy cohort, Jessica was also awarded the "OT and OT Assistant Partnership Award" in 2016 by the Washington State Occupational Therapy Association for excellent in care and collaboration.
Prior to her career in occupational therapy, Jessica worked as an assistant teacher in the infant program and as the lead teacher in the toddler classroom at Country Village Day School on Mercer Island, Washington.
In her free time, Jessica loves to travel and enjoys discovering new places in and outside of Washington. She enjoys being with her family and friends, especially if involves being outside, music or sports! Jessica has also been a proud big sister in the Big Brother Big Sister Program.
